Can an option be added to not use B31J SIF calculations in AutoPIPE?
Short Answer, Yes and No
Yes, the option to use ASME B31J SIF calculations has already been added to the program on the General Model Options dialog. See AutoPIPE help for details on this option.
No, as mentioned in AutoPIPE help for this feature some piping codes now require ASME B31J SIF value be used in code calculation. A single SIF is no longer an option for these updated code calculations.
Example, comparing sustain stress calculations from ASME B313-2018 to 2020, notice that the 2018 calculation only needs a single SIF where the 2020 calculation requires 6-7 SIF values:
