Problem:

What to do to avoid the error in the floating head design

235  Floating Head (split ring): allowable stress at temperature missing (240 Deg C)

236  Floating Head (split ring): ambient allowable stress missing

237  Floating Head (split ring): exceptional ambient allowable stress missing

Why?

How to avoid it?

Solution:

One possible reason for this error message to appear, the input data are not consistent. Meaning, the user was trying to model a BXT but AutoPIPE Vessel model was set to a BXS heat exchanger design.

S type means that the floating head is removable, this is not the case here, Shell Flanges-Rear Head End are missing! A Split Ring is required when the floating head is removable, otherwise this a type T.

Avoidance:

To fix this issue, the user could insert 2 flanges in the shell or change the type of heat exchanger into BXT (there is no need Split Ring with a type T).
