Problem:
Is Kd term missing from ASCE 7-10, so Is this mix of 7-05 and 7-10 for AutoPIPE Wind load?
Solution:
AutoPIPE wind loads generator doesn’t include ASCE 7-05. However, Wind directionality factor “Kd” shall only be used in wind pressure calculation as per ASCE 7 code recommendation (Note of Table 26.6-1 in ASCE-7-10). As per this note “this factor shall only be applied when used in conjunction with load combinations specified in Sections 2.3 and 2.4”. Since mentioned combinations are not used by AutoPIPE, kd is taken conservatively as 1 by program.
