As a workaround, what the user can do to get the correct allowable value for slurry piping for Hoop stress is given below:
Hoop stress allowable for restraind/unrestraind pipelines = 0.72*E*Sy
Hoop stress allowable for slurry pipelines = 0.80*E*Sy
The user can multiply his E factor value in the result model option with 1.11 (0.80/0.72 = 1.111) to get the correct Hoop allowable value for slurry piping. The user may ignore the rest of the stress categories (uncheck them under the combinations dialog) which they think are not required.
It is also possible to overwrite the Allowable value of a stress category in the Combinations dialog.
Description:
B31.4 / B31.8: Bend SIF value used in other code combinations may change incorrectly when the "Print" flag for Hoop stress is unchecked. Hoop stress does not use SIF in its calculations and should not have any impact on the SIF value.
Avoidance:
Keep "Print" flag for Hoop stress checked when printing results.
