Problem:

The following is displayed when performing a model consistency check report:

W2143-108: Stress Range factor > 1 is not allowed for non-ferrous materials. At Pipe(s

Why is that and how to Avoid it?

Solution:

As the message indicates the Stress Range Factor is greater than 1.00. Reduce the value to be 1.00 or lower to remove this message.

From AutoPIPE help:

Note: In the 2004 edition of B31.3, Appendix P was still restricted to a reduction factor, f, of less than, or equal to 1.0. Therefore, this field is not available when the Use Appendix P (B31.3) option is enabled, for the 2004 edition of B31.3, on the General Model Options dialog. Instead a Range reduction factor, f, can be defined. For editions of B31.3 after 2004, this field is available even when the Use Appendix P (B31.3) option is enabled.

Typically this occurs when the factor is set and then Use Appendix P general option is enabled.

Avoidance:

1. On the Tools> Model Consistency check report> notice the warning message and any offending pipe material ID names:

Example:

2. Open this Pipe Properties dialog screen, and reduce the factor to be less than 1.00
