How to get the range of T1, T2, T3, ...,Tn thermal load cases. The option RANGE is missing from actual AutoPIPE Capabilities (Combination Method).
From Max Range comb AutoPIPE help:
The program will automatically create a special code combination called "Max Range" that stores the results of the maximum thermal range stress case, e.g. T1 to T3, including thermal ranges from ambient temperature, e.g. Amb to T1. This option is useful when the maximum expansion stress due to thermal range loadings only is required rather than generating every thermal range code combinations explicitly.
In order to see all the thermal ranges, select "Tools> Model Options> Results> "No. of thermal ranges" option (see image below) and enter the total number of thermal cases found on General model options.
Setting the value to >2 will display all the combinations evaluated for "Include Max Range comb":
Amb to T1
Amb to T2
Amb to T3
T1 to T2
T1 to T3
T2 to T3
Suggest to review AutoPIPE help for details on these settings. After the settings are enabled with the correct number of thermal cases, these load combinations will be automatically created. However, the combinations will only range those temperature cases that are apart of the same analysis set.
Example:
Analysis sets configuration:
Question: Which analysis set 1, 2, 3, or 4 will range the temperatures load cases and show the results as mentioned above?
Answer: Correct, only analysis set #4 ranged all of the temperature case angainst one another. Meanwhile Analysis sets 1-3 only ranged a single temperature load case.
Note: (#) = Analysis Set #
"No of thermal ranges" setting
What is Max range and No of thermal Ranges setting do?
