Why does it appear and What should i do now to avoid it?
This message is displayed when a problem occurs during importing of a specially formatted Excel file using " Import Imposed Displacements" command
There are a number of reasons why the import may fail but one or more of the following listed items may resolve the issue. This is an iterative process.
a. Be sure that MS Excel is installed on the computer. Suggest v.2007
b. Save Excel file back to "Excel 97-2003 Workbook (*.xls)" format
c. The imported Excel file cannot have any blank Translation or Rotational values. If the value is Zero enter a Zero number in the blank spot.
d. Repair the MS Office. Try quick repair or reinstall the MS Office.
Now try and import the Excel file, the message above should not appear.
The reason for this message to appear is that there is an issue with the format of the data that is trying to be imported. This file format needs to be 100% correct. Otherwise, the message above will continue to appear.
There can be any number of reasons:
As a general set of instructions:
1. Copy the template file from AutoPIPE's installation folder to another location
2. Open the template file in Excel and rename
3. Confirm all cells in the Worksheet are set to General
4. All values entered into Translation and Rotation columns should adhere to the following format:
a. No more that 7 numbers, count does not include -ve sign or decimal
b. No more than 4 digits after the decimal
5. Try an iterative approach, remove half of the records, save to a new file, and try to import the file again. Keep repeating the step of removing half the rows from the Excel files, until the file is able to be imported. Then go back and narrow down the offending row causing the issue.
6. Is this a MS Office issue? The issue may be related to a problem with MS Office specifically. Try the following steps:
a. Reboot your computer.
b. Win 10-11 instructions:
Open Installed APPS
Select the Microsoft 365 Office or Excel to repair
Press the Repair and then Reset buttons.
This may take period of time during which you should not use any application.
After the message mentioning "You're all set!" appears, try to again import the Excel file into AutoPIPE.
7. If nothing helps to resolve this issue, please log a new case, mention this article, provide your AutoPIPE APC file and Excel file that is being imported for review.
