Environment: N/A
Area: error message

Problem:

The following appears when performing an Analyze > All command:

---------------------------
Error
---------------------------
E801-75: Cannot allocate memory for analysis, unload some applications.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------

What should I do to avoid this issue and be able to run the analysis?

Solution:

At this time (v. 12.08.xx.xx and lower)  AutoPIPE is a 32 bit application that has a limit typical to all 32-bit software, 2 meg limit on allocated memory.

a. If your computer has less than 2 gigs of memory, suggest to reboot the computer, restart AutoPIPE and try to run the analysis. In addition, consider adding more memory to the computer. See Suggested Workaround section below for more helpful hints

b. If your computer has more that 2 gigs of memory, closing applications is not going to help. Some dynamic and Nuclear analysis may require a fairly powerful computer system to run the analysis based on the model settings. Here are some helpful hints to perform before running an analysis:

Suggested Workaround:

1. Reboot the computer and do not start any other application, Start only AutoPIPE.

2. If model has soil properties be sure to reduce the number of soil springs to as few as possible. Another words, instead of Maximum Spacing = 1 inch or 1 mm, enter a more appropriate value 5-10 ft / 2-3m.

3. If performing Dynamic Analysis:

A. Analyze only one analysis set at a time.

B. Modal analysis:

i. Reduce the "Max number of Modes" or "Cut Off Frequency" to reasonable values for the type of analysis.

C. Time history:

i. Un-check the "Print Step Results" check-box

ii. Un-check the "Print Modal Results" check-box

iii. Reduce the number of time steps

iv. Decrease the duration of time history analysis

v. Increase the Analysis Step and Output Step

vi. Decrease the number of modes for the analysis

vii. Decrease the number of load-time pairs for the time history input

viii. Decrease number of soil points in the system

ix. Decrease number of mass points in the system

x. Finally, if all the above fails to provide enough memory for the solution, consider decreasing the number of points in the model i.e. break disconnected segments out in to a different model

This issue has been logged (ADO -728425, TFS-E160324) and will appear in a future version of the application.
