When I Launch STAAD.Pro, I get an Error: The information in Staadpro.ini is not in the expected format, Using Basic Units. Can you please suggest a solution ?

This typically happens when the STAADPro20.07.xx.ini file that the software uses to read the initial settings from, is corrupted. Now depending on the version of STAAD.Pro you are using, the ini file could be at different locations.

For example for STAAD.Pro SS6, it could be within C:\Users\your_user_name\Appdata\Local\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro V8i SS6\Default

For STAAD.Pro SS5, it could be within C:\Users\ your_user_name \AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\Bentley\Engineering\STAAD.Pro V8i SS5

where your_user_name would be your first_name.last_name ( example John.Wayne ) or any other way your user account is setup.

The “xx” part in the name of the ini file would also vary with the software version for example it would be 11 for SS6, 10 for SS5 and so on.

A good way to look for the ini file is to do a file search. It may bring up multiple versions of the file. Look for the Date Modified stamp and you will be able to figure out the one which got modified the last time you used STAAD.Pro. Every time you close a session of STAAD.Pro, the ini file that is used by the software, gets overwritten.

Once you locate the corrupted ini file, the solution is to replace the corrupted version of the file by a good version which is available within the C:\SProV8i SS6 ( or C:\SProV8i SS5 .. etc. ) folder. Ensure that STAAD.Pro is closed during the whole process. Once the file is replaced, launch STAAD.Pro and it should work fine.
