Model a pipe section that is lying on a slope, and to know the normal force that the slope exerts on the pipe.
AutoPIPE has rules for different supports to make the placing of them much quicker than in other applications.
Start AutoPIPE, open any model that has a support in it, and double click any support to open the support modify dialog. On this dialog, press the Help button in the lower right corner, and expand the window so it is full size.
The help information contains a very valuable table that summarizes all the supports available in AutoPIPE and key features about each one. For this modeling issue concentrate on the Support Type and the Bearing direction.. Depending on the support type the bearing direction will be:
a. Vertical only
b. Perpendicular to pipe
c. Parallel to pipe
d. User-specified
Therefore, for this modeling approach suggest using any support type that indicates a bearing direction of Perpendicular to pipe or User-specified.
In contrast if one wants to model vertical support(s), suggest using any support type that indicates a bearing direction of Vertical only or User-specified.
