How to calculate the tensile stress in bolts of an AutoPIPE Vessel model?
Calculation of the tensile stress in 1 bolt (refer to the image below) is performed as follows:
Tensile force in the bolt F = [(Mzz / (db/2) / nb) /2 - Fp]
Mzz is the bending moment due to wind or earthquake action
db is the bolt diameter (xb = db /2 in the calculation report)
nb is the number of bolt
RAV is the vertical load due to wind or earthquake action
Ws is the vertical load due to weight
