Problem:

While calculating maximum allowable nozzle loads (Fmax) as per EN 13445-3 (2021), Why Δ, K & α are zero?

Solution:

While calculating global longitudinal compressive stress limit, As per EN 13445-3 (2021) Clause 16.14.8,

Cylinders should not be checked against longitudinal buckling if equation 16.14-15 satisfied. Refer below reference.

If equation 16.14-15criteria met, then permissible longitudinal compressive stress σc, all may be taken as design stress f of the nozzle.

Hence in this case no further calculations for Δ, K & α are zero, and  σc, all is same as design stress at design temperature.

Note: AutoPIPE Vessel using fabrication tolerance quality class C and taking factor PSI (ψ) = 0,75 which is a conservative assumption for vessels that satisfy the manufacturing tolerance requirements of EN 13445-4:2019, Clause 6.
