Problem Description

Note: See RAM Concept Does Not Open for more information and an updated solution for this issue.

Original - With Ram Concept version 06.04.00.006 x64 or later installed on certain machines typically running Windows 7 x64, the program simply won't start. Clicking the desktop shortcut or Concept.exe causes the wait cursor to appear for a moment and then nothing happens.

In most cases, no error is presented. However, on at least one occasion the error below was displayed when attempting to launch the program.

This can happen even when the license is activated and when the prior version worked fine.

Update - A similar problem started in 2021 on machines with Windows 10 x64 and more recent versions of Ram Concept (e.g. version 8.02.00.146). In this case, when the program is launched from the desktop icon or by double clicking a file nothing happens at all

Reason

The problem is with a graphics driver incompatibility with a 3rd party component used by Ram Concept called QT5.

Solution

Download the file OpenGLenv.zip and follow these instructions:

communities.bentley.com/.../openGLenv.zip

Additional troubleshooting steps:

  1. Search for and install updated graphic driver from your machine manufacturer’s web page. If updated drivers are available, please try launching RAM Concept and see if the issue is resolved.
  2. If your machine has both integrated graphics (Intel) and a dedicated graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD, etc), try disabling the integrated graphics in Device Manager or configuring your machine so the dedicated graphics card is used by RAM Concept. Then, try launching RMA Concept and see if the issue is resolved.
  3. If your machine is docked and/or connection to multiple displays, try undocking and/or disabling the secondary displays. Then, try launching RMA Concept and see if the issue is resolved.

If none of the methods above help, then we will need a Process Monitor DxDiag report to help with resolution.

  1. Run Process Monitor as Administrator from here. Process Monitor pops up the Process Monitor Filter window on startup.
  2. 2. Click Reset and OK. You should see events logged immediately, and "Showing all XXX events" in the bottom left corner. If the number of events is not increasing, turn on event capture with File > Capture Events.
  3. Run Test 1 or 2 above.
  4. After test, turn off event capture, File > Capture Events.
  5. Save the events, File > Save Events to save: All events, Format: Native Process Monitor Format
  6. Zip up the PML file, upload it using the link below along with the DxDiag file, and then reply back to let us know it is available:
