Creating a foundation model in STAAD Foundation Advanced by using the data from a STAAD.Pro model

This article explains the procedure for creating and designing foundations in Staad Foundation Advanced using the results from a STAAD.Pro superstructure model.

Two methods are available:

Method 1)

From STAAD.Pro, after the analysis is done successfully, click on Foundation Design, and follow the prompts. Once the data comes into SFA, create a job and proceed in the manner you are familiar with. Make sure that the load cases that were brought in are properly categorized into Service and Ultimate.

This method is demonstrated in the video titled

Method 2)

a) Make sure that the STAAD.Pro model from which you want to transfer the data into STAAD Foundation Advanced is successfully analyzed. Then, close down STAAD.Pro (meaning, exit the program). This is an important step. If the file is open in STAAD.Pro, SFA will not be able to import the data.

b) Start SFA. Do not open any model (existing or New). Click on Import STAAD.Pro. Provide the file name of the STAAD model from step a. Once the data is imported, create a job and proceed as usual. Make sure that the load cases that are imported are properly categorized into Service and Ultimate.
