Why and how to avoid this?

Solution:

There can be any number of reasons why this issue would appear. Review each of the following scenarios to determine if one or more may apply:

Scenario #1:

While working with AutoPIPE and with OPIM v.10.10.00.71, during iso generation with specific direction, say pipe traveling in Y direction leads to crash.

Steps to Reproduce -

1. Using AutoPIPE with OPIM 10.10.00.71

2. Open model

3. Notice Vertical axis direction assigned as Y axis. See below image

4. Click on Icon shown below as save stress isometric

5. Generate Stress iso for entire model. Notice it generates correct iso.

6. Now change the Vertical axis direction from Y to Z from 'General Model Options'.

7. Repeat step 4 above and notice iso generation crashes.

And notice that the Message appears

Using AutoPIPE 2023 AND HIGHER:

This has been fixed since AutoPIPE 2023 v.23.00.00.230 which uses OPIM 10.11.00.175. Consider using this combinations of application or higher versions based upon AutoPIPE's readme file.

Using AutoPIPE V12.08.xx and lower:

Option #1, replace all guide supports in the model with a 2 incline supports or incline support and V-stop as needed.

Option #2, downgrade to OPIM version 10.09.01.06 which works fine with most users.

Scenario #2:

When exporting a model that has jacked pipe modeled, the above message appears. Why?

Although there is no apparent limitation in Help documents of OPIM related to Jacketed pipes, however ultimately OPIM does not support jacketed piping. Only workaround is to export the model in different selections or split it in different small sections.
