Support for Revit 2023 Analytical Model
Within one REVIT file there are 2 models that are relevant for structural interoperability and ISM. They are Revit's physical model and analytical model. The ability to use Revit's analytical model (member locations) as basis of export in some cases may offer an improved interoperability experience through the greater control of analytical member alignments and member connectivities.
With this update, users of REVIT 2023 can now continue to leverage Revit’s analytical model as basis for export. We have reintroduced support for REVIT’s analytical elements as basis for outbound operations (Create Repository and Update Repository commands) in REVIT 2023. In REVIT 2023, analytical elements need to be created either manually or via REVIT’s Analytical automation wizard. This is a departure from previous version of REVIT (REVIT 2022) – where analytical elements are created “on the fly”.
For outbound ISM Operations - Using the option “Use Analytical Model”, the location of exported ISM elements is based on the associated analytical equivalent as opposed to the physical model.
Important note for REVIT 2023 users:
There is an important property "AnalyzedAs" flag on analytical members that was automatically created and set for REVIT 2022 users "on the fly" as physical structural members are placed. For REVIT 2023, the changes in REVIT's Structural API meant that the analytical model and consequently "AnalyzedAs" flag is not set on the users behalf.
Therefore, regardless of whether "Use Analytical Model" option is selected, an analytical model must exist for successful interop with structural applications (e.g RAM and STAAD) downstream. The analytical model can be created either manually or via Analytical automation wizard.
