How to modify one or multiple items material properties using AutoPIPE?
Notice, the Pipe Properties Color map has only 1 color. There there is only 1 PipeID configured in this model.
In this example, 2 valves will be modified to have a different material than the surrounding pipe .
Note: A component's material is linked directly to the PipeID. Therefore the component material cannot just be changed outside of the PipeID dialog. The proper solution is add another PipeID that encompasses exactly the properties needed for a component.
Step #1. Insert a new PipeID to be used for the Valves (the new PipeID should be defined with the correct properties: example Size, Material, SG, etc..)
Step #2. Modify the Valve component to use the new PipeID just defined.
AutoPIPE provides a number of methods for completing the task, this tutorial will expose 2 methods:
Method #1: Modify > Properties > Pipe Properties Over Range
First select the portion of the model (ex. 2 valves) to where the material properties should be changed.
After the components are highlighted red in the model, use AutoPIPE's Command "Pipe Properties Over Range (Modify > Properties > Pipe Properties Over Range)"
When the Pipe Properties dialog appears, select the PipeID to be used for the highlighted valves.
Done.
Method #2: Press/Temp/PipeID tab in the Input grids
Open the input grids (also known as Review Component Data)
Select the Press/Temp/PipeID tab.
Scroll down to locate the node point of the valve (ex. A02-A03)
In the Column labeled Pipe ID, use the dropdown and select the PipeID to be used for the valve (ex 2nd_ID).
Repeat for 2nd valve (ex A07-A08)
Done.
Results:
After using the steps above, the 2 valves should be updated with a new material which is different from the connected piping.
