Updated Jan 2024:
With SES licensing accounts, company appointed Bentley On Site Admins, must check out a license from SES, send the file to the user, and import into the users' LMT applications.
1. Press START> All Programs> Bentley> PULS XM> "License Management Tool".
2. Select the License Checkout Tab, scroll down the listing looking for PULS Option 1, 2, and/or 3 as shown below.
Reasons Why the application name may be missing from the Product Listing:
A. The application is not on your SELECTserver. Contact Bentley Licensing to confirm applications on your contract and when your contract will expire.
B. The SELECTserver has not been updated. Press F9 keyboard key (generally located on the top row of a keyboard), the application is sending log information back to the Bentley hosted server, wait just a moment for the light show to stop. At this point the product listing will be refreshed with the latest SELECTserver information. Search the product listing again for PULS Option 1,2, and/or 3.
C. There are check out restrictions on the SELECTserver for the user and or the application. Please contact your Bentley On-site admin or Bentley Licensing Department. Only these people have access to the SELECTserver and will be able to look up and see where the licenses are located and what checkout restriction may be in place.
If you are a Bentley On-Site admin see more information about "Client Access Restrictions" and Custom Activation Groups.
If the License is in use by another, consider increasing your pooled license, contact your Bentley Account Manager for options and pricing.
3. Check the "Available" column to the right of the application
If the Value is greater than 0, therefore a license is available for the application, start PULS.
If the value is = 0, this means that there is no license available for this application in your current checked out license. Therefor the program will revert to DEMO model if you try to start it until such time that this value is > 0. go back and get a different checked out file from SES
***important*** Before continuing, reboot the computer.
1. Start PULS by double clicking on the desktop icon or from the Start Menu> Bentley> PULS XM
2. When you first start the Bentley PULS, a License screen will appear (or with PULS started, select Tools> Set Editions):
3. Based on the Product(s) that were available in the License Management Screen above, select a PULS license that had more that 1 available license (Example, based on image above, PULS Option 1 or 3 are valid selections). If PULS Option 2 was selected the application would have reverted to DEMO model because as shown above in the LMT screen, PULS Option 2 has 0 license available.
4. If the program reverts to DEMO mode see steps above on Things To Try:
After pressing PULS Option 1, 2, or 3 button, the application will look at your License Management Tool, check available license for the product selected, if available, reduce the available pool licenses by 1, and the application will be ready for you to use. To verify the application has a valid license, the top application bar will have one of the following:
HOWEVER, if a valid license was not found to be available, the application will revert to DEMO mode, as indicated by:
If your application is not licensed correctly due to License Management Tool issues, please contact the Bentley License department to verify your account status.
