Problem:

How to resolve "Output results required" error in AutoPIPE vessel?

Why does this happen and how to avoid?

Solution:

The error "output result required" means that the UI tried to read results data in the EMVD file. However, if the calculation has crashed, then there is no results to read when this message box is displayed, there should have warning/error message in the Report, to explain why there is no output.

If there is no report,

that means the calculation has stopped before retrieving the error (i.e. crash). Complete review of the model must be completed by hand in the software.

See the following suggest that could have cause the crash to occur:

Suggestion #1:

When user perform the calculation with Optimized design method, software calculates the missing information which user left blank.

But in case user wants to perform the calculation with checked design method, it is very important to feed all the required information before performing the calculation.

If user did not provide such mandatory data to complete the calculation, then software gives "Output results required" error.

To avoid such errors, follow below points,

  1. Ensure you entered the correct nozzle thicknesses and other dimensions for all nozzles.
  2. Enter bolt diameter and dimensions correctly.
  3. Assign proper material to all components.
  4. Ensure you entered the appropriate value of corrosion allowance (Should not be higher than design thickness).
  5. Ensure assigned material properties are within the limit of design temperature.
    1. Example:
    2. Review Temperature related properties on Component's Material tab.
    3. If material information is missing, ex Yield Stress imaged above.
    4. Examine the material library to be sure the designated temperature is within the range of the material.
    5. Temp = 575 °C., for this example material Yield Stress ranges from -30 °C to 525 °C. The Output Error appears because the material does not have data to 575 °C.
    6. Workaround:
      1. Choose a different material that has a higher range: 575 °C or higher
      2. OR
      3. Extend the range of the current material table with qualified data source beyond 575 °C

Suggestion #2:

If you still face the same error, follow below steps

    1. Change the design method to optimized design and execute the calculation.
    2. Go to the Execute<Convert Results as input data.
    3. Cross check the input and see which fields has been changed.
    4. Reverse the design method with required details.

Suggestion #3:

In cases where Nozzles are defined as Self reinforce and no thickness is provided:

Suggest to set all nozzles to With Or Without Pad.

image

Otherwise, IF a self-reinforce type is needed, then you could input the thickness of the self instead of leaving them blank.

Suggestion #4:

In addition, check the following missing thickness information on the Nozzle Properties dialog contains a value when set to User Defined:

Suggestion #5:

In addition, check the following missing data in Platform. Fill the appropriate data to avoid the error.

Incase you choose the Octagonal shape, platform must have an angle >= 45 ° (8*45=360)

Suggestion #6:

When Running Strength Calculations, the last calculation performed before message above appeared: Saddle Design

Take a moment, save the production model and save model as TEST, delete the saddles, and try to run Strength Calculations again.

What happens?

If calculations are completed, there is an obvious issue with the saddles, go back and review saddle information

If message above appears again, see next line.

At this point, again check the Vessel Properties, ensure all of the mandatory values have been entered. Also, confirm Liquid level is set not to a value between 0.00 to 25mm (ex. do not use 3.8mm, use 0.00 or value >25 mm). This issue was logged in Nov 2024 and will be fixed in future version (ref no. 1555475)

Suggestion #7:

If the problem continues, please log a new case (referencing this KB article) and upload your AutoPIPE Vessel model for review.
