Problem:

Stress Isometric does not create a drawing file, why? Reason #4.

Solution:

Answer: Program failing to launch 2nd executable

The application needs to launch a separate executable to convert the *.L00 files to isometric drawing.

Answer the following questions:

1. Check in the model directory, is a "modelname.PCF" file generated?
2. Check in the model directory, is a "modelname.apiso" file generated?

If answered YES to both questions and still no Isometric drawing was created, then most likely cause would be that the Operating System is blocking AutoPIPE's ability to launch that separate *.EXE process "ExecISO.exe" from installation directory.

Confirm Iso Viewer selected under Isometric Manager Settings and try again.

Is a Stress Isometric created?

If No, preform one more test.

From within AutoPIPE select File ribbon> Press "OpenPlant Isometric Manager" button, does OPIM launch in another window?

If No. consider one or more of the following reasons

1. 1. Reset user Profile by manually deleting these folders
    1. Delete folder the following locations:
      - C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AutoPIPE 20xx\
      - C:\Users\profilename\AppData\Roaming\Bentley\AutoPIPE 20xx\
      - C:\Users\profilename\AppData\Local\Bentley_Systems,_Incorpor\
  2. Reset Connection Client.
    1. Close all Bentley applications such as AutoPIPE, ProjectWise, etc..
    2. Open CONNECTION Client
    3. Click your initials in the top right corner
    4. Click "Sign Out"
    5. Sign back into the CONNECTION Client
  3. Remove OPIM and reinstall from fresh download
    1. This may sound to obvious but has resolved this issue for users in the past
    2. Uninstall all versions of OPIM from computer
    3. Download a fresh OPIM version installer called out in AutoPIPE's readme file
    4. Move installer to user's computer
    5. Reinstall OPIM
    6. Rest user profile
    7. Reboot computer
    8. Sign into Connection Client
    9. Start AutoPIPE and try to open OPIM from within AutoPIPE
  4. Add exclusion for all Virus protection for both AutoPIPE and OPIM software
    - Man users have one or more virus protections running in the background that have caused these program to not function correctly. Very important that exclusion be added. These exceptions should encompass all operations within program folders, their subfolders, as well as user profiles and their subfolders. Also, exceptions should cover process run by these applications. as an exclusion to the Anti-virus.
    - Example. Sophos Intercept X Endpoint has an exploit detection component called HMPA. hmpalert.dll will cause this issue to occur
  5. User permission restrictions
    - Again a very common cause for OPIM to not open from within AutoPIPE. Only after IT updated user permission to allow read/write to all AutoPIPE and OPIM folders outside of "Program Files" folder, respective sub folders, and registry entries was the application able to start functioning correctly.
    - Only test to confirm user permission, have a person with full Administrative rights to the computer sign in, log into Connection Client, suspend virus protection, and try to start OPIM from within AutoPIPE.
  6. Update AutoPIPE Bat file to run OPIM - see KB article here.
  7. ***Very Important*** Reboot the computer!
    - Again an obvious step but amazing on how often this simple solution resolves the issue.

After completing all the above, is OPIM able to be opened from within AutoPIPE?

If No, stop here, log a technical support case within the Bentley Support Portal, reference this KB article, title the support case: "Cannot start OPIM from withing AutoPIPE", request a live meeting for further investigation.
