QUESTION:
The crack width values of grade beam GB1& GB2 calculated by RCDC are all negative.
SOLUTION :
The -ve value of crack width means the section is uncracked. please refer IS 456 code Annex F.
the marked term is the strain corresponding to a reduction in tensile stress in reinforcement. for computing this the code suggest a reduction in tensile force in reinforcement, equal to the force generated by triangular distribution of tensile stress in concrete
if the above term is higher than the epsilon-1 then epsilon-m is negative denotes the section is uncracked.
