RAM Structural System is composed of a number of special purpose modules. This Learning Resource will utilize the following modules to complete the workflow for the design of a steel building:
- RAM Steel Beam: Used to design gravity composite and non-composite steel beams, steel girders, steel joists, and smartbeams. Tributary loads, transfer loads, live load reduction factors, and effective flange width are automatically calculated.
- RAM Steel Column: Used to design gravity steel columns and their baseplates. Axial loads, unbalanced moments, live load reductions and bracing conditions are automatically calculated.
- RAM Frame: Used to perform a full three-dimensional static and dynamic frame analysis of the lateral system. Lateral wind and seismic loads may be generated based on Building Code requirements or specified as user-defined story or nodal loads.
- RAM Frame Steel: Used to code check all lateral steel members and moment frame joints based on the selected steel design code.
