While designing the columns as per IS13920-2016 columns has not designed and STAAD states that, minimum dimensions of column should not be less than 20 TIMES THE DIAMETER OF THE LARGEST LONGITUDINAL REINFORCEMENT BAR OF THE BEAM AT THE COLUMN JOINT AS PER CL 7.1.1 a) OF IS-13920:2016. Even after fixing max main 16 for beams also it is not taking.
Can you please explain what is the reason behind the message and how can I get rid of it ?
As per IS13920 2016 clause 7.1.1 a), we need to check if the column dimension with respect to longitudinal bar diameter in connected beams. In STAAD.Pro column dimension is an user input and can not be changed during design process. So, a check has been provided to let the user know if a higher column size is required or not. First the program will design the beam and then the bar diameter is used to check the column dimension. From this criteria, it is easily understood that beam design information is required before proceeding for column design.
So, please place all the beam design commands before column design commands and run the file. This will eliminate all such warnings.
