Approach for calculating pre-stressed live load capacity for continuous members at
interior supports

 

For ASD/LFD rating, LARS assumes capacities for negative moment regions of
continuous prestressed beams to be based on reinforced concrete sections
(AASHTO Section 8). The positive moment region capacities are computedbased on prestressed concrete (AASHTO Section
9). For LRFR rating, LARS uses the unified capacities for Concrete Structures (AASHTO LRFD Section 5).
