Using a horizontal offset for profile view cuts in OBM CE

In OpenBridge Modeler CE, the user has the possibility to create a plan and profile view drawings using the Named Boundary tools.

More information about this option can be found here and here.

By default, the cut for the profile view is made using a vertical plane that passes through the alignment. In some cases, as in the image below, there is no geometry to show (cut) in the profile view because the solids (in this case the girders) are not positioned in the same plane as the alignment.

The following workflow presents a method in which the user can specify a horizontal offset for the created profile view cut.

1. Create a plan and profile view cut using the Named Boundary tool, as presented in the links above.

2. After the profile cut view was created using the default options, select the 3d cut construction lines and either open their properties using the properties window or open the properties from the pop-up menu.

If the construction lines are not visible, make sure to turn them ON from the View Attributes window.

3. Under the Clip Volume category, you will find an option to specify a horizontal offset for the profile cut. A positive value moves the cut to the right and a negative value moves the cut to the left. Based on your needs insert a desirable value and then accept the input with Enter.

4. In order to update the initial profile cut to the new position, refresh the cut.

After the refresh, all of your initial cuts will be updated to take into account the horizontal offset. At this point, there is no option to specify a view depth for the profile cut.
