Problem Description

CONNECT Advisor displays the following Message: “Unable to get Bentley CONNECT Advisor subscription, please try again. If problem persist, please contact your Bentley Technical Representative”

How To Trouble Shoot The Issue

1. Go to directory, example C:\Users\{Windows UserID}\AppData\Local\Bentley\Logs\

2. Look  for SmartAdvisorLog.exe.log

3. Send the logs to Technical Support


4. otherwise you can open the logs with notepad and go to Edit\Find and type: Error

3. Press the find next button




The first message we get is:

An exception occurred while trying to Error in PWCS service Get Response.

Exception Message: System.Net.WebException:

The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found” and Logging PWCS API response is null.


Steps to Resolve

Note: This changes should be done by your IT Department.

1. Go to Control Panel

2. In Programs and Features group, find “Turn Windows features on or off” on the left side of the window



3. Go to .NET Framework 4.6 Advanced Services > WCF Services

4. Switch on "HTTP activation"
