I am designing a steel structure and would like to limit the choice of sections ( assignment/ member selection) to some specific cross sections. How can I do that ?

To limit the available choice of sections to certain cross sections only, you may follow the procedure listed next. Go to the General > Property page and click on the Section Database button from within the Propeties Whole Structure dialog box to get the following dialog box.

Click on the View Table button and the following dialog box would appear.

Choose the Select Sections to Project Database option and select the appropriate sections that you would like STAAD.Pro to consider for future assignments/selection. Click on the Add button. Confirm the section by clicking on Yes option in the resulting dialog box. The added sections are henceforth going to be active ( will show in bold ) for the project and all assignments or selections henceforth will be restricted to these sections.

Later on if you want to remove this imposed restriction, you may simply click on the Add All button which would re-activate all sections for future assignment/selection.
