Error when running a Render

Error or Warning Message

"Failed to create Luxology system directory"

Explanation

Clicking in the Message Center from MicroStation status bar, the error message is explained further and states the following: "This most likely means MS_TMP is not writeable"

How to Avoid

  1. Check the MS_TMP variable, to do this, in any file, go to the menu Workspace > Configuration

  2. In the Category column on the left, choose All (Alphabetical)

  3. From the Configuration variable list on the right, scroll down until MS_TMP

  4. Select MS_TMP and note the value in the Expansion box

  5. Using Windows Explorer, check if the folder exists and, if so, does user have write access to that folder

  6. The options are to create the folder in Windows if it does not exist, point MS_TMP to the correct folder location, or, give user write access to the folder
