Problem

When rendering a large image or multiple framed animation to the disk, MicroStation crashes with the following error message:

System fault: 5 "spotray.mc"spotWin_RaytraceFunction Could not load u:\ms08050064\s\msj\mstn\mdlapps\mpray\spotray.mc
MPRAY is the MDL debug application.mdb>

Solution

Reason:

Processor is overheating. This error is referring to a non existent drive, path and application. This is a line from within the MicroStation code and is not important. This problem will produce this same error including this exact path because the same line in the code is failing.

Solutions:

-Check to see if Processor fan has failed.
-Remove the workstation access panel cover and promote convection by adding an additional cooling source.
-Contact Workstation distributor for further assistance.
