A new feature of using rigid links in the structure model in RC-PIER has been added in LEAP Bridge Enterprise v14 per the request from Michigan DOT. Below are some basic facts about the new feature.
- A rigid link, simply put, is one which does not undergo any deformation while transmitting motion.
- Rigid links impact the moment distribution in FEM model. Typically, rigid links lead to more negative bending moment and less positive bending moment in design.
- A user now has an options to select rigid links in cap over columns or at column ends under Geometry Tab -> Str. Model in RC-PIER.
