## QUESTION: How to verify if the program is considering the correct Stem width for calculation of Vc ?

**ANSWER:**

User needs to Run the analysis and then design the inverted T Pier cap in the CAP Tab.

Then in the Design Status user needs to get the following information from the Shear and Torsion Design Table.

As per AASHTO LRFD Eq. 5.8.3.3-3 the formula to calculate Vc is as follows. This verification is done at Absolute location 8.22 ft.

Vc = 0.0316 * β * √ f'c * bv * dv

Vc = 55.8 kips

β = 1.07

f'c = 4000 psi

bv = Stem width

dv = Effective Depth = 68.69 in

Actual calculation :

55.8 = 0.0316 * 1.07 * √ 4 * bv * 68.69

bv = 12 in -- This value matches user input
