QUESTION: Does Bearing data play a role in analysis ? Or is bearing more for representation purposes only ?

ANSWER:

The size of the bearing does not have any importance but the bearing points are important for transfer of loads from the superstructure to substructure.

The bearing thickness will affect the pier elevation. GEOMATH, which is geometry program computes the pier elevation using the bearing and beam seat thickness.

Bearing locations are used for correctly transferring the loads from the superstructure to the substructure. Bearing locations and thicknesses are used to calculate the beam seat elevations. The physical dimensions of the bearings are used for depicting a true 3D visualization of the bridge.
