Problem Description

A number of *.dgn-uncompress files were created when working on a DGN, and remain in the folder when reopening the DGN file.

Steps to Resolve

temporary *.dgn-uncompress and *.dgn-compress files are created during "Compress Design" operations. They are normally deleted after the compress has finished successfully.

Possible reasons that the temporary files are not deleted:

• In a case that MicroStation crashed during a "Compress Design", it is possible that the *.dgn-compress is not being deleted.
• Issue can occur if there is not full read/write access, or Administrator rights, to the folder that the dgn-compress files has been saved to.
• .dgn-uncompress files can also appear when there is a problem with network speed and the compress process is not completed.
