I am trying to define the connections between the braces and the beams at the locations highlighted in the picture using the RAM Connection interface within STAAD.Pro? However no matter what connection I choose and what settings I use, the software keeps telling me No Connection could be defined. Is it possible to define such connections ?
Starting from STAAD.Pro 22.09.00.115 which is integrated with the RAM Connection version 13.6, there is now a way to define these connections. The trick is to assign member attribute “BRANCH” to the braces and “CHORD” to the beams as shown in the pictures below.
Select the braces, right click on the screen and choose Add Member Attribute
Choose the settings as shown next and click on Apply
Now select the beams, right click on the screen and choose Add Member Attribute
Choose settings as shown next and click on Apply
Run the analysis and go to the Connection Design workflow.
Select all the braces and beams, choose Smart Connection and choose Truss Gusset Branches as shown next and click on OK
The connections are then going to be applied as shown below
You can double click on any of the connections to launch the Connection Pad where you can verify the connection details as seen below
