How to configure text and units for DIN dimensions?

Background

DIN standard recomend to use meter as unit for dimension equal or above one meter and use centimeter for dimension below. Also in DIN standard, the last decimal digit should be rounded to 5 or 0 and in superscript. Please check with the exact standard you need to apply as it might change.

Steps to Accomplish

To get the unit to change according to dimesion value

  1. Select the menu "Element > Dimension Style" to open the Dimension style dialog box,
  2. Select the dimension style to be used and go to "Unit" tab,
  3. Configure the Master Units and Label Format to reflect the normal unit, in DIN case master units are meters and label format is MU,
  4. Configure the Sub Units to reflect the alternate unit, in DIN case, centimeters,
  5. Check Alternate Label, click "Settings" and enter the following:
         If distance is "<" "1" MU
         Accuracy, configure according to your need, if you need the last decimal digit to be rounded, inclued it in the accuracy,
         Label Format "SU"

 

To get the last decimal digit in superscript and rounded

  1. Select the menu "Element > Dimension Style" to open the Dimension style dialog box,
  2. Select the dimension style to be used and go to "Advanced" tab,
  3. Select the property "Units > DIN Dimensioning"
  4. Check "Superscript"
  5. Select Automatic font for superscript character unless you have a special font configured,
  6. And check "Rounding" if neccessary,
  7. In "Units > Primary" Property, check "Show Trailing Zeros".
