The following assumptions are made in generating Material take-off.

  1. Material Take-off for the Entire Structure.

a. Column:

Column length is calculated as per the length available from the analysis file. No deductions are made for calculating the length of the column.

b. Beam supported on the column:

Beam length is calculated as per the c/c distance between support with a deduction of 10mm on either side for the connection.

c. Beam supported on the beam:

Beam length is calculated by deducting half the thickness of the web in the case the supporting member is I-shaped. If the supporting member is RHS or SHS, half the dimension plus a gap of 10mm is deducted.

d. Elevation Bracing:

Elevation Bracing member length is calculated as drawn in the section drawings.

e. Plan Bracing:

Plan Bracing member length is calculated as drawn in the section drawings

2. Material Take-off for plan and section drawing

Material take-off is also available for selected plans and section drawings. The length of the members is calculated with the following assumptions,

a. Column:

Column length is calculated as per the floor level available ( Y-coordinates). No deductions are made for calculating the length of the column.

b. Beam Supported on the column :

Beam length is calculated by deducting half the dimension of the supporting member. In case of the beam is supported on the I-shaped column, the outermost rectangle of the column is considered for the deduction.

If the beam is released at the ends (Major moment), a drawing is generated keeping the gap of 10mm between the beam and column outer extent as a shear connection.

If the beam is not released, a drawing is generated keeping the no gap between the beam and column outer extent as a moment connection.

In both the above cases, Length is calculated as follows,

Example: beam length is 5000mm and the depth of the column on which the beam is resting on both ends is 300mm.

Beam length               = 5000 – 2 x (300/2)

                                        = 4700 mm

Plan Bracing member length is calculated as drawn in the section drawings.
