Capturing a SAML trace will allow Bentley to diagnose many common problems with federated connections on all authentication protocols, to include WS-Fed, SAML, and OIDC. 

1) Install the SAML-Tracer extension in your preferred browser. Here are links for Chrome or Firefox.

      1a) Chrome users can find the extensions menu in the top right of the browser to the left of the profile icon. It looks like a little puzzle piece. Click on this button and select the "SAML Tracer" application. This will open a new window.

      1b) Firefox users can find the extension in the top right of the browser just to the left of the three lines. It looks like a little paddle with a few dots. Click this button and it'll open the SAML tracer application in a new window. 

2) Make sure that you've signed completely out of https://connect.bentley.com/. You should see this page below, or a page with your E-Mail already loaded. If you're automatically signed in, or see anything other than this page, please sign out. If there's no option to sign out, please clear your cache and cookies (Chrome, Firefox), close the browser, and navigate back to  https://connect.bentley.com/. 

3) Attempt to sign-in to CONNECT (https://connect.bentley.com/) while the SAML-Tracer extension window is open in the background. This will log the URL's that are visited as well as the information that's being sent around.

4) You can validate that you've captured helpful information by pausing the capture and scrolling up & down the webpage. On the right hand side of the information that was captured, you should see at least 1 piece of extra information that says "SAML" or "WS-Federation". This will validate that an authentication attempt was captured. 

5) After your sign in attempt and validating that the important information is there, hit export up at the top, choose "none", save it and send the federation management team your export. Please ensure that you're providing a JSON export of the file and not a copy paste of the contents of the trace itself. We need to see the entire event captured.
