The haunch thickness (for Steel Girder bridge definition) in OpenBridge Modeler is the distance from the top of the steel girder web to the bottom of the concrete deck slab. 

While this is fairly common practice in the United States, as specified in this reference from AISC/NSBA/AASHTO, it needs to be explicitly documented and clarified for our users.
