Problem

Context menu too long

When using 'right click' in a drawing view, the context menu appears longer than expected, there are many more entries, including Animation and 3D tools even if the model is 2D. See attached image. How can the menu be returned to normal?

Solution

This can happen if MicroStation 08.11.09.357 or newer is pointing at a Workspace from an older version such as 08.11.09.292. The reason the right click menus (Context menus) look different is because 08.11.09.357 is using NamedExpressions to check if certain conditions are met.

The file is called NamedExpressions.dgnlib and it is stored in the Workspace\System\dgnlib\ folder.

This dgnlib file is not in the 08.11.09.292 Workspace (or older workspaces) so the checks are not met for the Context menu, therefore more options are listed.

If you want to delete some of the tools that you do not wish to see in the context menu, you will have to manually do it; as there is no command that you could key in, without affecting other settings. To do this you need to go to Workspace>>Customize>>Context Menus>> once here look for "customized.dgnlib" in the drop down tree menu" or "context menu" folder, depending on how the customization was done. once you find the set of tools you wish to remove, click on them so that they are highlighted and it should give you the option to remove them. Else you might have to dig deeper by specifically opening the corresponding customized.dgnlib  by locating its location in your windows file explorer box.

Also, the following items commonly appear in the Reset pop-up menu. Because the Reset pop-up menu is context-sensitive you may see more items, depending on the type of element that is selected, whether the element is in a reference, whether a file is linked to the element, etc. The Reset pop-up menu can be changed by customizing context menus.
