How to remove XDATA from an imported dgn file

Solution

You must save the .dgn (that has the Xdata) back to a DWG file,ensuring to UNCHECK the "save Application Extended Data (XDATA)" box.

This dialog is located on the

OPTIONS > Advanced > Application data > Save
Application Extended Data (uncheck this box).

The OPTIONS button is on the "SAVE AS" dialog box.
