How to select the active element template and set the association lock via keyin

The following key-in(s) can be used to set the active Element Template and turn on the Element Template Association lock.  Useful for placing behind a Function Key or Customized Button.

Background

An Element Templates is a named set of predefined element properties that can be used to set the active settings when placing elements, or applied to existing elements. The active Element Template is typically set by selecting the Template through the Ribbons 'Attributes' group by selecting the down arrow and navigating to the required Template.

                                                                                                                

In addition, when placing an element with the active Element Template, it is possible for the element to be associated to the Template, such that if the Template properties are changed all elements associated with that template are also changed. To enable this the Element Template Association icon next to the Element Template name needs to be selected ( Depressed background )

                                                                                                               

Steps to Accomplish

To Set the active Element Template via Key-in

  1. Open the Key-in dialog ( Drawing > Home > Primary > Key-in )

                                    

      2.    Enter the Key-in 'Template Active TemplateGroup\TemplateName'

To Set the Element Template Association via Key-in

  1. Open the Key-in dialog ( Drawing > Home > Primary > Key-in )

  2. Enter the Key-in 'Lock Templateassociation On'

Example of Combining Key-in(s)

It is possible to combine the keyins using the ';' to seperate them. In this example the Active Element Template 'RailwayLine' from the Template Group 'Rail' will be used to place a Smart Line which is associated to the Template via keyin

  1. Open the Key-in dialog ( Drawing > Home > Primary > Key-in )

  2. Enter the Key-in 'lock templateassociation on;template active Rail\RailwayLine;place smartline'

  3. Place the Smart Line
