This support solution provides steps to disable RAM Connection integration within STAAD.Pro.

Background

STAAD.Pro includes an integrated version of RAM Connection that is accessible to engineers from the RAM Connection tab. Such integration, while useful, also provides a potential source of unintentional use for the RAM Connection license. Fortunately, STAAD.Pro provides a configuration setting for enabling or disabling the integration. Following are steps for disabling it.

Steps to Accomplish - STAAD.pro V8i

1. Open STAAD.Pro, and locate the License Configuration tab. If you see the License Configuration tab, make sure that the RAM Connection is unchecked as shown here.

       2. Now open Project Tasks sidebar on the main screen.

       3. Click the Configuration link.

       4. In the window that appears, select the Misc. Options tab.

       5. Clear the "Use RAM Connection Product License" checkbox if selected.

      6. Click the Accept button to save changes.

Once disabled, an engineer will encounter an error when attempting to access the RAM Connection tab.

Only very basic functionality that does not require a RAM Connection license will be available.

Conversely, if you do want to use the full Ram Connection functionality within STAAD.pro, make sure the options are checked.

Steps to Accomplish - STAAD.Pro 2023 and CONNECT Edition

When STAAD.Pro is first opened, note the color of the icon next to the licenses displayed in the lower right of the program.

If the icon next to the text  'RAM Connection' is not grey, then this indicates that the program is attempting to use the RAM Connection license whenever it starts so that it will be possible to perform steel connection designs in the Steel Connection Workflow using the RAM Connection engine. If this functionality is not required, then it should be disabled from the License Configuration dialog. To do this, click on the License menu option on the right side panel of the Main screen to display the License Configuration options, and under the list of options for Additional Licenses, un-check the RAM Connection option, thus:-

Press 'Accept', and the program will restart with the option disabled, thus:-

Note that the Steel Connection Workflow will still be available, but as the RAM Connection license will not be used, only a few sample connection templates will be available.
