Background

This article will explain how to generate a watermark for printing, generally used for drafts or incomplete projects.

Steps to Accomplish

For this example, we assume that we already have the design in a sheet model size ISO A1 and called "Design".

Then we proceed to create a new sheet model with the same size (A1), this model will serve to put all those elements that represent the watermark. This model is called the "Marca de Agua"(Watermark) model.

In the "Watermark" model I have created a text with the word "BORRADOR"(Draft) in it.

We return to the "Design" model and attach the "Watermark" model.

In the reference dialog go to Settings>Adjust colors and apply the desired transparency and click in the box "Print adjusted colors".

Once applied, we go to the print dialog and click on the "Rasterized" box, we can see how the transparency is applied in the preview.

-------------------------------------------------------

If you do not want to use the "Rasterize" option in the print dialog, there is a way to add transparency by means of a design script.

In this case, we just need to add the text that will appear as a watermark (without needing to reference)

Two variables must be edited in the WM.pen file (attached to the article):

communities.bentley.com/.../WM.pen

Character: between quotation marks (") the word in the text is written exactly the same as the one in the model, as it is case sensitive.

Color: The color of the watermark is chosen according to "True Color" definition.

Then in the print dialog, the pen file is added to the design script field and we must print it with the Bentley PDF print driver for transparency to be recognized. Note that the "Rasterized" option is not required.

Once we have the PDF with the watermark we can print to paper.
