Modeling Mat Foundations in STAAD Foundation Advanced

Modeling Mat Foundations: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, mat foundations can modeled directly in the program or imported from a STAAD.Pro model. In these videos, you will learn to create a new mat foundation in STAAD Foundation Advanced using a blank model and by importing a STAAD.Pro superstructure.

Supports: STAAD Foundation Advanced can analyze and design soil-supported or pile-supported mat foundations. In this video, you will learn how to create a pile-supported and soil-supported mat foundation.

Loads: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, loads can be applied directly to mat foundations through contact area loads (point loads), line loads, or area loads. In this video, you will learn how to create primary load cases, model loads, and create load combinations.

Load Envelopes: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, load envelopes instruct the program which load cases/combinations to use for analysis or design. In this video, you will learn how to define the service load envelope and ultimate load envelope. You will also learn how to create custom load envelopes.

Analyzing Mat Foundations in STAAD Foundation Advanced

Analysis Criteria: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, the analysis criteria instructs the program what analysis type and load combinations shall be used to analyze the mat foundation and the pedestals. In this video, you will learn how to specify the analysis criteria.

Analysis Results: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, the analysis results can be viewed on contour diagrams of the entire mat foundation or on a cut line to review the analysis results at a specific location within the mat foundation. In these videos, you will learn how to interpret the analysis results using a variety of techniques.

Post Analysis Criteria: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, the Post Analysis Criteria (PAC) is used to instruct the program which serviceability limit state (i.e. sliding, overturning, and soil bearing pressure), to include in the post analysis check for the mat foundation. In this video, you will learn how to instruct the program which post analysis checks to perform.

Designing Mat Foundations in STAAD Foundation Advanced

Design Criteria: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, the design criteria includes a set of parameters that the program can use to design a mat foundation. In this video, you will learn how to specify the concrete design code, the concrete design code parameters, and the concrete and rebar parameters.

Detailing Criteria: In STAAD Foundation Advanced, the detailing criteria is used to specify your detailing preferences, rebar spacing, extra rebar settings, preferred bar length and rebar development length. In this video, you will learn how to create and assign detailing criteria to a mat foundation.

Flexural Design: STAAD Foundation Advanced subdivides mat foundations into strips to evaluate the slab for flexure. In this video, you will learn how to access and interpret the flexural design results.
