Connection Points are Reference Set types created by the input of a Single point (POINT) in a specific geometrical position to define the bearing. They are set by the crossing of two Construction Lines at the Cross-Section Window. 

   

The CP is then later assigned to the Segments of the reference segment using the options before/after. Springs are usually set to connect different Connection Points from other elements.
