Shapes created by the "Place Block" command results in "3D face"
elements in AutoCAD. This also happens when working in a DWG format
file.
Product: MicroStation
Version: V8/V8i
Area: DWG-Save,
This is controlled by a DWG "save as" setting.
1. Go to File > Save as...
2. Select DWG as the format.
3. Click "Options" (Save As DWG/DXF Options opens).
4. Go to and expand "Entity Mapping".
5. Expand "2D Unfilled Elements".
6. Change " 3 or 4 sided Polygons" to something other than "Face
Entity".
7. Repeat step #6 for "3D Unfilled Elements".
8. Repeat step # 6 for "Filled Elements" if these shapes are filled.
9. Click Cancel.
From then on, any Blocks (3 or 4 sided shapes) that are placed to a DWG
format file will match the setting chosen in the corresponding option.
Note:
This will not change existing elements in the file as only added
elements are processed upon DWG save or file close. If the existing
elements need to b e changed, the file will need to be saved to V8
format then back to DWG format, so all the elements will get processed.
Complex Shapes created using Line Styles results in Smart Solid of Line Style 0 when Saved to DWG
