Error

When saving a DGN to DWG the following error appears:
"Unable to open seed file: <FileName>.dwg"

Explanation

The "Save as DWG/DXF Options" is set to use a DWG seed file that is unavailable.

Reason 1: DWG Settings File (DWS)

Make sure the "DWG Seed File" used in the "Save As DWG/DXF Options" dialog is valid.
(i.e. Make sure you have correct permissions and the path/file exist.)

To change the seed file used when saving as DWG/DXF:

Go to: File > Save As
In the Save As dialog, set "Save as type" to DWG or DXF
Click Options
In the Save As DWG/DXF Options dialog, select the General tab
Expand the Basic Section
Click on the value (file path) listed for the DWG Seed File
Make sure this value points to a valid file and location

Reason 2: DWG Settings and Seed File Configuration Variables

Make sure the following configuration variables contain valid directories and files:

MS_DWGSEED

Defines the DWG seed file used when opening DWG files.

MS_DWGSETTINGSFILE

Points to the file that contains the settings for opening and saving DWG files.

MS_DWGDATA

Points to the directory where the following files are stored:
- "DwgSettings.rsc" — resource file containing all of the DWG settings
- DWG Settings Files (DWS) containing saved settings for opening and saving DWG/DXF files.

MS_DWGSYSTEMDATA

Identifies the directory containing the DWG settings file Dwgsettings.rsc.
Overrides the directory specified by MS_DWGDATA.
