Problem

We have received some font and linestyle RSC files from another company. What do we do to enable MicroStation to find these RSC files?

Solution

Go to Workspace > Configuration to open the Configuration dialog box and select the Symbology category.
Select the Font Directories variable and click Edit to open the Edit Configuration Variable dialog box.
Set the Edit mode to Append, and enter the full path to the folder that contains the font RSC file in the New Value field, and click OK.
In the Configuration dialog box, select the Symbology Resources and click Edit to open the Edit Configuration Variable dialog box.
Set the Edit mode to Append and enter in the full path, including the actual file name, in the New Value field. You can also use *.RSC in place of the file name and this enables MicroStation to choose all files with an RSC file extension in that directory. Click OK.
Click OK in the Configuration dialog box, then Yes to save changes.
Close and restart MicroStation. The new settings are now in effect.
