Problem

How to get desired unit settings when saving to DWG.

Solution

Unit readout in AutoCAD is equivalent to Coordinate Readout in MicroStation.

Go to Settings > Design File > Coordinate Readout.

Follow the settings below to get the desired results in AutoCAD.

FOR LINEAR UNITS
Format: Master Units
Accuracy: decimal value
AutoCAD results: 2 - Decimal

Format: Sub Units
Accuracy: decimal value
AutoCAD results: 3 - Engineering<(><<)>C R>
Format: Master Units
Accuracy: Fractional value
AutoCAD results: 5 - Fractional

Format: Sub Units
Accuracy: Fractional value
AutoCAD results: 4- Architectural

(There is no MicroStation equivalent for Scientific units in AutoCAD)

FOR ANGLE UNITS
Format: DD.DDDD = Decimal
Format: DD MM SS = Deg/Min/Sec
Format: Gradians = Grads
Format: Radians = Radians

Mode: Conventional = clockwise unchecked, 0 direction = East
Mode: Azimuth = clockwise checked, 0 direction = North
Mode: Bearing = Surveyor's units with "Clockwise" unchecked, 0 direction= North
(There is no MicroStation equivalent for Surveyor's units with "clockwise" checked on in AutoCAD)

FOR DESIGN CENTER UNITS
This is controlled by the Save as DWG Options
Units = feet, inches, meters, etc. will set the Design Center units to
that unit in AutoCAD.
Units = Master Units or Sub Units will set the Design Center units to the Master Unit or Sub Unit of the that is set in the design file units.
Note:
If the design file working units is a custom unit (10th of a foot for example) the Design Center units will be set to "Unitless".
