Overview

Previous versions of MicroStation V8i and older included a tool called VerifyDGN that reported and fixed corrupted files. Bentley MicroStation CONNECT Edition does not include VerifyDGN but does provide the following Audit Tools which can be used for basic auditing and correction purposes.

Method

1. Standard Checker:
The Standards Checker examines the open DGN file and compares the contents to the standards selected in the Standards Checker settings. To use the Standards Checker, you must first define a set of standards checks in a DGN library (DGNLib).

This tool can verify standards for the following content:

1.   Level

2.   Text Styles

3.   Dimension Style

4.   Element Template

More Information: Using the Standards Checker

2. Design File Cleanup:
Used to identify duplicate elements, overlapping elements, and/or gaps between elements in the active design file.

Cleanup actions are performed in the Design File Cleanup dialog.
More Information: Design File Cleanup

3. Compress Options:
Compressing a DGN file reduces its size and clears the undo buffer.
The COMPRESS OPTIONS <ON, OFF, RUN, TOGGLE> key-in is used to open the Compress Options dialog.
More Information: Compressing Files

4. Level Audit:

Levels in a file reside in an element referred to as a "Level Table". The LevelAudit utility reports a few level-related problems if there are any and corrects them in some cases.

1. Duplicate Tables
2. Null Names
3. Orphaned elements

 5. FixRange:

An elements range block is the x-min, y-min, x-max and y-max extents of the elements. You can use this utility to diagnose range block problems in DGN file.
The loading FixRange MDL app does scanning and fixing the problems in one go. There is no separate key-in for it.

You can use Set Range key-in to toggle the display range blocks of the elements.
